Our Residential Demolition Services
Full House Demolition
From small fibro cottages to multi-storey homes, our house demolition team will demolish the building safely, salvage what we can, and clear the site so it’s construction-ready. Most residential house demolition projects wrap up in 3 to 5 days, depending on size, access, and weather.
Partial Demolition
Not knocking down the whole house? We handle partial demolition jobs like removing a rear extension, a deck, an attached garage, or a section of the building you no longer want. Tell us in advance which structures you want preserved (sheds, pools, mature trees), and we’ll plan the demolition to work around them.
Knockdown Rebuild Preparation
Planning a knockdown rebuild on your Sunshine Coast block? We work alongside builders and project managers to demolish the existing house, clear the site, and hand it over construction-ready on the timeline they need to start. Most knockdown rebuild demolition projects come down to coordination, and that’s where having a local demolition contractor who actually answers the phone matters.
Concrete & Site Clearance
Slabs, driveways, footings, and leftover building materials all need to go before the next trade can start. On most demolition projects, we break out concrete, clear the site of demolition materials, and arrange recycling and disposal so your block is ready for the builder.

Why Sunshine Coast Homeowners Choose Sellcon
16+ years of demolition work on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane means we know the soils, the councils, and the quirks of older Queensland homes from Caloundra to Caboolture.
Owner-operated, in-house equipment, no middlemen. You pay for the work, not the markup.
Our own machines, our own people. That means tighter scheduling, fewer delays, and one team accountable for your project from start to finish.
Strict safety protocols on every site, full compliance with Queensland WHS regulations, and proper handling of any hazardous materials identified at assessment.
You’ll always know who’s on site, what’s happening today, and what’s coming next.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? feel free to give us a call or reach out and we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have! here are some frequently asked questions to get you started.
Safe residential demolition starts with a proper site assessment, identifying any hazardous materials, securing the site against unauthorised access, and using the right equipment for the job. From there, your demolition contractor needs to follow Queensland WHS regulations, hold the right licences and insurance, and manage utility disconnections before any structure comes down. At Sellcon, every job runs through the same safety process regardless of size, from a small shed pull-down to a full house demolition.
No, Sellcon doesn’t carry out asbestos removal ourselves. A lot of older Sunshine Coast homes still contain asbestos in wall sheeting, eaves, vinyl flooring, or roofing, so we identify it at the site assessment and let you know what’s there. The asbestos then needs to be removed by a licensed asbestos removalist before we can start the demolition. We can point you to operators we’ve worked with on past demolition projects, or you’re welcome to engage your own. Once the site is cleared, we come in and handle the demolition.
Preparation usually runs in this order: site assessment and quote, council demolition permit, neighbour notifications, utility disconnections (electricity, gas, telecoms), any required licensed work like asbestos removal by a third party, then site set-up with fencing and signage. We handle the demolition-side paperwork and coordination for you, so most clients only need to give us the go-ahead and let us know what (if anything) on the property they want to keep.
Check that they’re fully licensed and insured for the type of demolition work you need. Ask whether they own their equipment or sub it out, how they handle permits and neighbour notifications, and whether they can show you completed projects on the Sunshine Coast or in Brisbane. A good demolition contractor will give you a clear quote, a realistic timeline, and a single point of contact for the whole job. It’s also worth asking whether they handle both residential and commercial demolition, since broader experience usually means a more capable crew. Cheapest quote isn’t always the best value if it skips compliance or leaves the site half-cleared.
The big one is sorting and recycling. Concrete, steel, timber, and brick can all be diverted from landfill if they’re separated properly on site. As part of our demolition services, we salvage reusable materials wherever we can and recycle concrete and metal through local processors. The same approach applies to commercial demolition jobs, where the volumes are larger but the principle is the same. Keeping waste out of landfill costs less and lines up with what most Sunshine Coast councils now expect on residential demolition projects.
